MDA CHARITY RIDE        by Waldo

Sunday’s major ride was the Glendale Harley-Davidson – Carol Springer MDA Charity Ride.  Registration opened at 8 a.m. at Glendale Harley-Davidson.  A donation to Muscular Dystrophy got participants breakfast, a commemorative Harley-Davidson/MDA ride pin, and a chance at some really cool prizes.  The escorted ride showed riders some of the west valley and north valley scenery before delivering them out to Cycle-fest.  Another great ride on Sunday was Logan’s Run.  Logans Valley Motorcycles presented a 125 mile Benefit Poker Run that left from Scottsdale Cyclefest and ended up at Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler in Tempe.  All proceeds went to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

For us, the last ride of Arizona Bike Week was the Pat Savage Lonesome Garage Jam.  A group of us left Cycle-fest after the Belanger Brothers finished and rode down to the Stadium Cross Races at the Arizona State Fairgrounds to watch Gary Wells successfully jump his Confederate Motorcycle over an inferno.  Then it was off to Lonesome’s in Peoria for a celebrity jam with the Pat Savage Band.  Man, these guys are hot.  All I can tell ya is that if you like blues, this band is a must see. The highlight act of Arizona Bike Week to be sure.

Anyway, that’s a brief overview of this year’s Arizona Bike Week Y2K.  If ya were here, I hope ya had fun.  If ya weren’t I hope you’ll come next year.  This was the fourth year and it’s still growin’.  It’ll continue to grow as more and more folks become involved.  Eventually, there will be something for everyone.
