Those of you who weathered the storm and stayed at
the Louisiana State H.O.G. Rally April 4th got a real surprise
when guitarist/singer Pat Savage
took the stage with the VooDudes.
Man, what a jam it was. With thousands of H.O.G. biker folks packing
up against the stage, it was the kind of show that
didn't let go of your attention.
Pat's bluesy guitar riffs screamed throughout the
crowd as he wailed his version of Hendrix's "Red House".
Pat and Tom McCullough of the VooDudes were pouring
out hot duel guitar licks on Chuck Berry's "Johnny
Be Goode". Along with Pat Savage, Jimmy VanZandt
(1rst cousin to the late great Ronnie Van Zandt
of the Lynard Skynard clan) also joined the VooDudes
singing "Sweet Home Alabama", "Free Bird" & "Call
Me The Breeze".
" The VooDudes really put on one hell of a show and
were tighter than I've heard them. The Pat Savage
Band was formed in 1987 in San Francisco with Savage
singing, writing and playing guitar, along with Dave
Brown (Santana) on bass, and several prominent
Bay area drummers. Pat soon after returned home to
the Toronto area and partnered up with now long time bassist
and business partner Murf Martin,
a solid bassman who spent years on the Chicago
scene playing with just about everyone on the Alligator label.
The Pat Savage Band have been no strangers
to TV, film and commercial works, Pat has recently
been cast in the upcoming CTV series "Up Roberts Creek"
produced by "Julie Brown", and he has been involved with
television and acting all his life.
