Savage "Live at Suz's"
For someone who's CDs are fairly close to the roots, Pat Savage still displays massive amounts of energy on stage with upbeat tunes.
It was the first time he's played in London since he left for Detroit 10 years ago. He hit
the stage with old friends from London. Aaron Mac Donald (sax) was featured on many of the
tunes. There was also the double treat of dual drummers Tyler Wikjord and Phil Krawzcuk
squeezed into the alcove doing a solo at one point. This in itself made the night so much more interesting.
I hadn't seen Savage in several years and as usual he put on a major show. His chops
have been amplified even more after years touring the mid western chittlin circuit. I remember seeing him in the Western University
days with Jeff Healey and Colin James both. Also saw him with Koko Taylor, James Cotton (a close friend of Pat's) and Mark Haines.
I am still a big Savage fan and we play his music a lot at
CHRW The Blues Never Die. Check him out man!
